DropletPharma Internship Opportunity

DropletPharma is developing two microscale devices to vastly accelerate radiopharmaceutical discovery and production and execute our vision to drastically improve health outcomes. As an electronics or firmware engineering intern on our team, you will be tasked with taking ownership and implementing core improvements to the mechanical and fluidic systems for our two flagship systems. This will be an in-person position in Los Angeles, CA given involved and hands-on engineering work.

What you will have ownership over:

• Design, implement, test, and characterize electro-mechanical, including actuator mechanisms, sensors, thermal, and fluidic subsystems for our radiopharmaceutical production and discovery systems
• Build and test assemblies and prototype systems
• Assist with developing and maintaining design documentation as well as manuals and SOPs for operation of prototype systems
• Perform experiments to evaluate new concepts and designs
• Troubleshoot and improve designs
• Developing test instrumentation

Requirements

What we hope to see on your resume/CV:

• Pursuing B.S. degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or similar
• Hands-on development experience with building/testing mechanical, electro-mechanical, and fluidic systems
• Rapid prototyping
• Automation/test tools in Java, Labview, Matlab, Python, etc.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

If you’re electronics-focused:

• Proficiency with at least one PCB design software (Altium, OrCad, Xpedition, KiCad, Circuitmaker, etc.)
• Experience with analog and digital circuit design, manufacturing, testing, and use (club, research, personal, or other non-class projects included)
• Comfortable with basic C/C++ programming
• PLC or DAQ systems
• Mixed signal, industrial design, robotics, and/or mechatronics

If you’re firmware-focused:

• Proficiency and experience writing real-time embedded firmware, specifically in C/C++
• Knowledge of basic electronics
• Preference for experience with RTOS's (Zephyr, FreeRTOS)
• Preference for experience with robotics, mechatronics, and/or PLC / DAQ systems

• Ability to communicate key messages of your work succinctly across written, oral and slide presentations, and have mastery over your work such that you can elaborate deeply when needed
• Something extraordinary you've accomplished and are particularly proud of
• Show your personal / club / research projects!

And finally, experience that would be great, but not required:

• Control systems development

Benefits

DropletPharma aims to provide competitive compensation. We expect this position to be a regular, full-time position, with an hourly rate of $25-40/hour, depending on your experience and education.
