ABOUT POLYGON LABS
Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the Agglayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the Agglayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. YOUR ROLE
Are you ready to take ownership of a global tax function at the forefront of web3 innovation?
We are looking for a hands-on and strategic Tax Manager or Director with experience in the blockchain and digital assets space. In this role, you will build and lead all aspects of Polygon Labs’s global tax operations, including compliance, reporting, planning, and digital asset taxation. You will design the tax infrastructure and controls that will support our rapid growth and increasingly complex global operations.
This is a rare opportunity to lead and scale a tax department in one of the most dynamic sectors of technology. You will collaborate across legal, finance, operations, and product teams—helping ensure compliance while enabling innovation.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Corporate Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare and review U.S. income, indirect, and foreign tax filings in partnership with external advisors
- Oversee local country tax operations and support finance teams with foreign statutory financials
- Ensure accurate and timely tax return preparation for income tax, VAT/GST, and transfer pricing documentation
- Review payroll tax requirements including withholding, fringe benefits, and reporting of token-based compensation
- Digital Asset Tax
- Manage the tax treatment of web3-specific transactions, including DeFi activities, token issuances, and airdrops
- Tax Planning and Strategy
- Support audit defense and manage correspondence with tax authorities as needed
- Contribute to global tax planning efforts and maintain global transfer pricing policies
- Transfer Pricing
- Collaborate across departments to assess and manage the tax impact of business operations
- Coordinate with Finance and Legal to support intercompany transaction tracking and transfer pricing documentation
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Accounting on financial reporting and tax provisioning
- Lead tax considerations during M&A transactions (including stock purchases, asset transfers, and IP assessments)
- Improve and maintain audit-ready documentation for tax positions and filings
- Process Optimization
- Maintain a global tax calendar and forecasted tax payment schedules for leadership
- Drive automation and process enhancements for tax compliance and reporting workflows
- Conduct internal tax audits and provide process improvement recommendations
- Collaborate with Accounting to integrate tax requirements into NetSuite reporting
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of international and corporate tax experience in public accounting and/or in-house experience
- Extensive experience of international tax matters
- Prior crypto accounting experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles including the ability to review a trial balance, and transactions
